President of the Disarmament Commission
Can Nahum
American School Institute Izmir

Greetings Delegates, Student Officers and MUN Directors.

My name is Can Nahum and I will be serving THIMUN this year as the President of the Disarmament Commission. I am currently a senior at the Özel Izmir Amerikan Lisesi in Izmir, Turkey. I have done MUN for four years and attended 10 conferences so far both as a delegate and a student officer. THIMUN '08 is going to be my last THIMUN conference very unfortunately, thus I am very excited and enthusiastic about working for it.

This year in Disarmament Commission we are going to be focusing on many issues prevelant today such as the naval mines and landmines; non-prolieferation of nuclear weapons; the illegal trades of small arms; the role of the military in 21st century and many more. I would like to encourage every single delegate to work on at least one issue in order to bring efficient solutions to these problems.

In my experience, I have observed that the Disarmament Commission has always been the most passionate commission with the hottest debates and the most fun. The topics of the agenda are very controversial and thus will lead to a great debating environment.

I am really looking forward to working with everybody and I hope everybody is as enthusiastic as I am because I am sure that we are going to be a great commission. If anyone has a question or need some guidance in researching, I am willing to help you in any means. See you all in January.

Sincerely,
Can Nahum
President of the Disarmament Commission
