HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION (HR)

– Establishing criteria and guidelines for the protection of Human Rights whilst combating the threat of terrorism
– The protection of persons from enforced or involuntary disappearances
– The implementation of the Millennium Development Goals in order to secure and guarantee Human Rights
– The cancellation of international debt as a means to the further promotion of human rights in Highly Indebted Nations
– Promoting Economic development as a means to achieving Human Rights in Haiti

Sub -commission 2
– The moving and dumping of toxic wastes and its effect on Human Rights
– The effects of child pornography and the Declaration of the Rights of the Child
– Securing and guaranteeing the Human Rights of indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities
– The reintegration of victims of conflict such as kidnapped women and child soldiers into civil society
– The restitution of civil order as a prerequisite for guaranteeing Human Rights in Sri Lanka

SPECIAL CONFERENCE ON THE ERADICATION OF EXTREME POVERTY AND HUNGER

Sub -commission 1
– The role of micro-credits in combating rural poverty
– Setting priorities for health development in Poverty Reduction Strategies
– Developing strategies to insure secure food production in areas most at risk of hunger
– The question of water supply in developing sustainable farming and reducing rural poverty

ADVISORY PANEL ON THE QUESTION OF KOSOVO
This panel is designed for experienced MUN participants and consists of 34 panelists, each representing a different lobby group concerned with the future of Kosovo. Applicants will have to use the separate form in the back the Administrative Handbook, indicating which panel position they would prefer to have (see page 11 for a list of the different countries, organizations and political parties).
